How to Get the Look: LBLA’s Butterfly Medusa Set

LBLA’s Butterfly Medusa set is built on a strong spike structure + soft, layered dimension. By combining our NEW Pixie Lashes and Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes, you can create lift, movement, fluffiness, and texture without overthinking curl changes or layering techniques.

This look relies on intentional length placement and spacing to create that airy, fluttery “Butterfly” effect.

Set Breakdown
Eye Map: Kitten Eye

Used: LB (Pixie + Multi-Layer)

Key Products:

Step 1: Create the Spikes with Pixie Lashes

  • The spikes are the foundation of the set and define the Medusa shape
  • Use Pixie Lashes in LB curl
  • Place 7 mountain-style spikes across the eye, following a kitten-eye map

  • Focus on even spacing — these spikes create the structure of the Medusa effect
  • Use a Spike Styler on the tip only to sharpen and define each spike

Pro Tip:

  • Pixie Lashes naturally stay together thanks to their sticky base, making them ideal for clean, consistent spikes with minimal effort

Step 2: Add Dimension Between Spikes with Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes

  • This step creates the Butterfly effect and adds depth
  • Use Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes in LB curl

Pickup Technique

  • Pick up Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes slightly lower on the base
  • This provides better control during placement and allows the layered structure to attach smoothly
  • The sticky base/strip helps keep layers together for precise placement

Placement

  • In the center of each spike gap, place only ONE Multi-Layer Camellia lash
  • Choose a length 1 length longer than the spikes

  • This contrast creates lift, movement, and a subtle winged effect
  • Be intentional — fewer placements make the texture stand out more

Step 3: Fill & Soften the Set

  • Soften the look while maintaining dimension using shorter Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes

  • Fill between:
    • Pixie spikes
    • The longer Camellia lashes are placed in Step 2
  • Use lashes 2–3 lengths shorter than the spikes for the remaining fill
  • This staggered length pattern prevents the set from looking heavy or flat

Pro Tip:

  • Keep placement light — the Camellia structure already builds texture for you
  • Overfilling will cause the Butterfly Medusa effect to disappear

Step 4: Check Coverage & Direction

Before completing the set:

  • Check lashes from multiple angles
  • Use a mirror to confirm:
    • Even coverage
    • Consistent direction
  • Make micro-adjustments to spikes or fill for balance and symmetry

Why This Technique Works

  • Pixie Lashes create clean, stable spikes
  • Multi-Layer Camellia Lashes add dimension without switching curls
  • LB curl enhances lift and elongation for a true Butterfly effect
  • Texture is built intentionally — not stacked on

This is the Butterfly Medusa set, simplified. 🦋✨
